	Russian Lacquer Box-Snow Maiden & Father Frost, Deer This item is a new Fedoskino Russian lacquer box by world famous artist Natalia Leonova. This outstanding box painted on both sides depicts stunningly gorgeous winter scenes in the Russian tradition. On one side, the Snow Maiden and Father Frost shimmer in the light. The Snow Maiden holds a tiny bird in her hand. The expressions and detail are fantastic. Ms. Leonova's use of translucent paints and gold and silver leaf make this box a true collector's item. On the other side, a majestic deer stands proudly in the snowy forest, listening to the still quiet. The gold leaf in his coat brings him to life in miniature. Both scenes are painted on a genuine Fedoskino papier mache box made in the centuries' old Russian tradition and of the highest, museum-grade quality. The shape of the box, like a tiny purse, combined with the gold and silver highlights make this box particularly special. Ms. Leonova's original artwork is executed in oil paints in multi-layer techniques, with a layer of lacquer between each layer of painting. Once completed, the box is lacquered again 10 times and polished and dried in an oven after each layer. The process takes several weeks to complete. The box measures 4 inches wide, 3 1/2 inches tall, and 1 1/4 inch tall. It is signed by the artist (in Russian) and dated 2007. It is a breathtaking work of art!
