The painting depicts a charming English foxhunting scene with hounds and a little red fox. The detail is exquisite. The barrette is painted in tempera paints on a papier mache base with a metal catch. The painted part is protected by several coats of lacquer for durability and to enhance the beauty of the painting. The barrette measures 3 1/2 inches long x 2 1/8 inches tall.
