This item is a new, hand-painted wooden egg on wooden stand. It is painted with a lovely English foxhunting scene with a gorgeous castle in the background. The white horse and huntsman dominate the foreground of the scene. The little fox hides happily behind the tree while horse and hounds set off on the hunt. After being painted in a multilayering technique, the egg is lacquered three times to protect the painting and the wood.
The egg is painted and lacquered by a Russian artist friend of mine. I have worked with him directly for five years; his trademarks are attention to small details, wonderful use of color, and a love for animal, water and wildlife scenes.
The artist's technique of painting eggs is unique in that he uses a transparent base for his paints, thereby allowing the grain of the wood to come through the painting. This adds a richness and interest to his work, as the grains subtly show through to complement the scene.
The egg ships with a biographical card telling about the artist's background. The egg measures 3 1/2 inches tall. The stand is two inches tall. The eggs ships with biographical information about the artist. It comes in a gift bag which makes wonderful gift presentation. It is in perfect condition.
